COMPANY
Ashlawn Energy, LLC is an advanced energy storage company based in New York, specializing in vanadium redox flow battery systems for commercial, industrial, and grid-scale applications. Their flagship product, the VanCharg™ battery, delivers long-duration energy storage solutions that enhance grid reliability, support renewable energy integration, and reduce operational costs. With a commitment to U.S.-based manufacturing and supply chain integrity, Ashlawn Energy focuses on providing sustainable, safe, and scalable storage systems to meet the growing demands of the energy transition.
SITUATION
For Ashlawn Energy to progress their product from R&D to full-scale production, the team needed support for their end plate. A Design and Analysis project was required to identify the design requirements and validation tests needed for the end plate sub-assembly to reduce the cost of manufacturing and improve the performance of the end plate design.
SOLUTION
In partnership with AMT, Ashlawn Energy embarked on a design and analysis project that delivered multiple design iterations that met the rigorous engineering standards, along with an updated bill of materials aligned with target manufacturing costs. AMT supported Ashlawn in identifying and coordinating with a third-party partner to perform key technical tasks, securing funding to offset a significant portion of project expenses, and providing program management to maintain alignment and momentum. By leveraging regional expertise and resources, Ashlawn Energy successfully transitioned from an R&D-focused startup to a small-scale manufacturer based in the Southern Tier of New York.
