Welcome to the Direct to Work program:
Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) Application

The goal of the Direct to Work program is to prepare high school graduates for entry-level positions with Tompkins County manufacturing companies. All program costs will be paid by our sponsors.

Applications are due before June 30th.

The Direct to Work program will run for six weeks, starting July 5 to August 12, 2022.

  • The CMfgA self-paced training requires completion of 27 one-hour online classes with pre- and post-training tests. Students must pass the post-training tests.
  • CMfgA is an industry certification focused on basic manufacturing concepts, demonstrating an individual’s potential for high-demand, entry-level manufacturing roles. It was designed for individuals new to manufacturing who may not currently possess enough knowledge or experience for advanced technical certifications. For more information see the CMfgA course description.
  • After completing the online training, students will take a proctored CMfgA certification test online. The certification is nationally recognized. The test is based on the course work, and is relatively easy if the course work is completed. AMT will provide test preparation assistance if requested.
  • In addition to fully paid program costs, you will receive a $500 bonus if you complete the program and pass the certification test, and you will be guaranteed interviews with up to five Tompkins County manufactures.
